The largest livestock market in Wales was opened in Welshpool on Friday, 6 November 2009, helping to safeguard the future of the rural economy in mid-Wales.

Privately-owned J Ross Developments - part of the Pickstock Group - delivered the largest one-day livestock market in Wales for Welshpool Livestock Sales three months early and on budget.

The unveiling ceremony was held at the new multi-million pound livestock market in Welshpool which resulted from a significant investment, boosting both Welshpool’s and the UK’s livestock trade.

The 149,000 square foot new market replaces the Smithfield market in the town centre.  The new market is at nearby Buttington Cross on a 16-acre site on the edge of town, allowing easier access for vehicles transporting livestock.

The new livestock facility will be owned and operated by Welshpool Livestock Sales and is modern, environmentally friendly and bio-secure by design.

DPA was involved in the design of the market from inception to completion and wish the Directors of Welshpool Livestock Sales every success for the future.

Stans of Llangollen

An application has been submitted to Denbighshire Council on behalf of P,R & A Faulks who will occupy and operate the proposed store as 'Stans of Llangollen'. The company is a family concern which operates a long-established business under the name of Stans Superstore at St. Martins, Oswestry.
The present application proposes the retention of the petrol filling station, the demolition of the existing buildings on the site and the construction of a new neighbourhood store.
